From The Hindu, April 3, 1925: Government and Indian Art.

Bombay, April 2: A largely attended meeting was held at Marwari Vidyalaya Hall. Mr. S. R. Bomarji, presided. The principal speaker was Mr. M. R. Jayakar, local Swarajist leader. Speeches were made strongly condemning the Government’s lack of sympathy in fostering Indian artistic talent and art treasures.

Sir Edwin Lutyens, Consulting Architect for new Delhi was strongly criticised for having submitted the so-called rival scheme for encouraging Indian art. The Government of Bombay was strongly urged to take prompt measures for the scheme proposed at the Conference on Indian art, organised by the society at Wembley.
