London, Feb. 25: The English Lawn Tennis Association has announced that after consultation with the American Association and leading British players, the following wording of the footfault rule has been agreed upon and will be submitted to the International Federation: “Rule 6: Immediately before commencing service, the server shall stand both feet at rest behind the base line and within the imaginary continuation of the mark and sideline. Thereafter until service has been delivered, the server shall (a) not change the position, walking or running; (b) maintain contact with the ground; (c) keep both feet behind the base line.”
